Photoshop editing

This is an example of some of the editing I have done to one of my images. On some pictures such as this one I have been experimenting with the tone of the image in order to make the image stand out or take a more back ground effect. I have made this image black and white so not to distract from  the writing of the contents page yet I have added a drop shadow so it does not become insignificant and still emphasises the artist featured. drop shadow I have used on text is usually to make titles stand out to readers or to allow me to use varying colours which oriental pop commonly use and not have the colours conflict.

I had decided to use the shots I would not use, for my contents page, whilst also including images specifically for the other stories featured on the magazines contents.

When doing the photoshoot despite preparation there were still factors I had not accounted for and this is how i worked with them.

My model wore her hairband on her wrist during some of the shots I allowed this as it's design was relevant to the cute and almost childlike aspects of oriental POP

For my other models I expected them to dress casualy as shown above through her shirt and hoodie this is because they on my contents would be featured readers so everyday people my audience can relate to.

Although in my flat plans I sketched my models hair up for the photoshoot i felt this only worked with certain shots and changed the image of my artist.

For the last shots I took I asked my model to tie her hair up again to suit the headphones.

I gave my model a lot of freedom to choose what she wore but I encouraged her to wear something she had purchased in china; this would be her top. I simply said to dress as 'normal' this is why jeans fit this casual look as this is the impression i wanted my artist to make.

What I did change on my model was her shoes which did not suit my magazines look; she wore black school shoes so instead I gave her bright trainers to be more suitable for my POP magazine and the 'converses style' of the shoes is popular amongst my teenage audience.

I followed my flat plan sketches when taking my photos and then expanded on them;

 I used the surroundings enabling a casual leaning pose

and here I experimented with lighting and used a prop; headphones which are relevant to my music magazine.

I followed my flat plan sketches less taking these photos although simple the images were awkward so it was easier for my model to sit and also adjusting the angles but I didn't develop these shots further.
